An Evening Drink Author: Limonize E-mail: spiral@spinfinder.com Rating: PG-13 – Sexual Situations Summary: Nick and Lulu share a drink; December Holidaze Challenge --+-- "So where is everybody?" asked Lulu, a little puzzled, as she looked around the large, elegant, but empty hotel lounge, slipping her long gloves off slowly. "They've headed out." answered Nick simply, in a low voice. "I thought maybe we'd have a drink before we leave?" He looked penetratingly into her dark eyes. "Oh. Sure! Sounds nice…" Lulu responded, somewhat surprised. Instinctively, they moved in the direction of a table situated in the heart of the room, quite close to a black, baby grand piano, where the lighting was mutely spotlighted. As Lulu removed her white shawl from her mostly bare-backed shoulders, they sat down into contemporarily-styled but comfortable chairs. She wore on this particular occasion, a knee-length black dress and high heels. Nick had been admiring her deportment since he had first spotted her entrance into the lobby, walking in from a full-mooned, clear cold night outside. Both had been attending different client-related Christmas parties but had agreed to meet at Nick's function location at the end of the evening, to return home together. Lulu looked appraisingly around the room, noting the tasteful décor and mirrorball above them. After ordering Margueritas for both of them from the waiter, Nick stared at the piano, feeling himself irresistably drawn to it, particularly as it was situated so closely to them. "There was someone playing here earlier." Nick murmured quietly. "He was rather good…" "Dance music?" inquired Lulu. But to Lulu's surprise Nick had already risen to move quickly toward the piano. With his body almost shielded from her view, he lifted the lid gently and began to tentatively sound a few notes. The notes seemed to carry, echoing through the room like a timeless chime. Then he began a slow, ascending arpeggio movement, soon followed by a second. Lulu felt her breath catch in her throat. She had taken some lessons as a child, but had no knowledge of any interest in any musical instruments, on Nick's part. She now felt magnetically drawn toward the piano too. But she was fascinated primarily by the black-suited figure who seemed completely absorbed by the sounds emanating from the play of his fingers - the black-suited figure of the man she loved who now stood bent over a black grand piano, playing it intensely. "Nick?" she spoke softly. But engrossed, he did not look up. She walked toward him and slowly came up behind him, moving the bench that he had not bothered to sit on, aside. He continued to play, roving his hands through many bass notes, making the grand stringboard rumble and ache with dark, turbulent sounds. "Nick?" she implored again, softly. He turned his face to the right to listen to what she might say. "Will you play us a Christmas song?" she asked softly. He nodded. He then began playing a very familiar melody. It was a Christmas carol that Lulu could remember hearing as a child, and vaguely remembered singing. But like so many seasonal carols she had forgotten portions of, she could no longer remember many of the words. Nick's fingers traced the notes so nimbly and spiritedly. She knew it had to be one Nick felt close to. In her mind, she could hear the uplifting chorus "Glo-o-r-r-i-i-i-a, In Excelsuis Deo…" But as he played the joyous refrain, the title and verses eluded her. Why had she forgotten such a rousing, timeless piece? It was time however to stop brooding and just enjoy it She stood there and simply listened in enjoyment as he played the uplifting melody for them. As he continued to play, she gently slipped her arms around his waist and held herself gently to him. Three verses later, he turned his head toward her and remonstrated, "I think our drinks are waiting…" But he was careful not to break her hold on him, instead simply twisting himself in her embrace until her faced her, encircling his arms around her waist so that they effectively supported each other. "A man of many talents…" complimented Lulu admiringly. "A woman of infinite beauty…" replied Nick softly. A light blush appeared in Lulu's cheeks on hearing this. Finding it irresistable, Nick leaned down and kissed her on the cheek and then took her hand in his, to lead her back to the table. An ornate flask sat on it, and a card was propped against it. Curious, Lulu picked up the card and read: "Compliments of the management." She handed the card to Nick. He smiled. They sat down again, moving in closely to each other. Nick leaned over and began to nuzzle Lulu's ear lightly, making her blush more. "What was the carol you played?" Lulu finally asked, breaking down and revealing to him that she could not remember it. "A carol that reminds me of you, Lulu. It's called "Angels We Have Heard on High…" Lulu leaned over and kissed Nick lightly on the cheek, placing her hand gently atop his leg. "Do you sing too?" she asked him somewhat suggestively. "Riotously." he replied matter-of-factly. Closing the distance between them even more he held her closely and moved his lips to her ear again. He trailed his lower lip sensuously over her earring and ear lobe and then lightly bit her neck. "Do you?" he whispered huskily. "Only in A minor." she mumbled almost inaudibly, gasping, as he continued to nip at her neck. "Limited range. We'll have to do something about that…" he said, finally covering her lips with his, his hand already beginning to slide under her skirt. "Nick!" Her protesting subsided quickly, only to be replaced by irrepressible moans, as his hands probed further. "Sing me a 'B'" "Bastard!" she hissed, her anger quickly dissipating into another breathy moan. "That's it: now a 'C'..." ~ ~ ~
